♥ Chihuahua's have a life span of 10 to 18 years, with many living well over 20 years old
♥ If you do not like the idea of having a dog on your furniture, then a Chihuahua is NOT for you!
♥ If you do not like the idea of sharing your bed with a dog, then a Chihuahua is NOT for you!
♥ If you do not like the idea of having a dog that is literally at your heals everywhere you go, in your house, then a Chihuahua is NOT for you!
♥ It has been said that Chihuahua's can actually die from a broken heart: Chihuahua's form VERY close attachments to their owners. While they get along with other family members, they will bond very closely to one particular person. They are an extremely loyal dog and very protective of their owners.
♥ Chihuahua's are NOT the best dog to have with young children. Chihuahua's are extremely fragile and a toddler may accidently hurt the dog while playing.
♥ Chihuahua's are prone to shivering when cold, excited, or scared. Provide your Chihuahua with a sweater or a coat when going out in cold or wet weather. Secure Chihuahua's shake less.
♥ Be prepared to have doggy stairs at your couches and your bed. NEVER let a Chihuahua jump down from furniture! It puts stress on their joints which can lead to luxating patella (trick knee) and can only be fixed with surgery.
♥ If you want a dog that is extremely loving, devoted, and wants to be with you 24/7, then a Chihuahua IS for you.
